PARTICIPATION GUIDE
LOCATION
Settler Vines is hosted on Zoom on Thursday September 23 and Friday September 24, 2021. Two sessions are held on each day. Thursday, in addition, features the Avie Bennett Public Lecture in Canadian History.
When you register for the conference via Eventbrite, a single meeting ID and password will be provided to you. This will give you access to all the sessions, with the exception of the Avie Bennett Historica Canada Public Lecture in Canadian History.
We kindly ask that you register separately for the Avie Bennett lecture if you wish to attend it.
ATTENDEES
Please make sure to arrive 5 minutes before the session you wish to attend is set to start. The full program is available here.
Your camera may be switched on or off. Please keep your microphone on mute during the presentations. During the Q&A’s microphones will be enabled for questions. We encourage people to post questions in the chat during the presentations. However, unless the presenter prefers otherwise, they will not be engaged with until the Q&A session.
PRESENTERS
Please arrive 15 minutes before your panel’s scheduled start time. In those 15 minutes, one of the organizers will invite you to a breakout room. This is an opportunity for you to ask any remaining questions and test your PowerPoint, microphone, and camera.
Screensharing will be enabled for presenters in case you wish to use a PowerPoint.
The moderator will open the session and introduce the first presenter. If it is your turn to speak, the moderator will introduce you with the short biography that you provided.
Please keep your presentation to approximately 15 minutes.
MODERATORS
We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes before your panel is set to start. You will be invited to a breakout room together with the panelists. This will give you an opportunity to introduce yourself and chat with the panelists prior to the actual session.
During the session you will introduce the presenters, monitor the chat for questions that could be asked in the Q&A that follows the presentations, and make sure that all participants remain on mute and abide by the Professional Conduct Policy.
